Title page preview of the Canada’s North

Canada’s North is a vast and beautiful region of the world that has been affected in recent decades by significant environmental, societal and economic changes that are expected to continue in the future.Climate change has had a negative impact on the sustainability of infrastructure and the availability of food for communities in this region. From a socio-cultural point of view, people are consuming more and more expensive imported food, equipment and energy resources, and the region is facing a housing shortage, reduced access to services health and a high unemployment rate.

This report identifies the key issues facing Canada’s North and examines the potential role of standards that can help to correct the situation. The report explores standards-based solutions for potential societal benefits, the urgency of the problem, and the role that standards could play.
