It is a mandatory requirement for manufacturers of Ex equipment who apply for either an ATEX EU-Type examination and/or an IECEx Certificate of Conformity to have an appropriate quality assurance system in place.

The quality assurance is the continued monitoring of systems and processes in relation to those Ex products.

You must have both in place (certificate and quality assurance) before putting your Ex equipment on the market.
