CSA Group Celebrates 100 Years of Holding the Future to a Higher Standard

TORONTO, FEBRUARY 25, 2019 — For the past 100 years, CSA Group has been dedicated to advancing safety and protecting the environment. Established in 1919 as the organization responsible for improving the safety of Canada’s infrastructure (such as railway bridges and electricity) through the development of national standards, CSA Group has evolved to also address emerging issues such as climate change resiliency, the sharing economy, cybersecurity, energy storage and active assisted living, to name a few. CSA Group now develops and maintains thousands of codes and standards across a wide range of sectors and aspects of society.

CSA Group also tests and certifies the safety and energy efficiency of household, industrial, and medical products around the world. With its own testing labs in 14 countries, CSA Group has earned the trust, recognition and acceptance of governments, regulators, leading retailers and consumers.

As the world has evolved over the last century, CSA Group has adapted to meet changing needs. “The world continues to innovate and introduce new technologies that profoundly alter how we live and work,” says David Weinstein, President & CEO, CSA Group. “In this environment of constant change, ensuring public health and safety is more challenging than ever before. That is why, as a 100-year old organization, we continue to develop expertise in new and emerging technologies, undertake innovative research, and establish new standards in emerging fields.”
