Three CSA Group Employees Honored with IEC 1906 Award

TORONTO – CSA Group today announced that three employees were recently honored with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Executive Committee’s 1906 Award. The awards were announced on August 27, 2018.

The IEC is the world’s leading organization for the preparation and publication of international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. Created in 2004, the award honors IEC experts from around the world whose work is fundamental to the Commission. It also recognizes exceptional and recent achievements related to the activities of the IEC and which contribute in a significant way to advancing its work.

The deep technical expertise of CSA Group employees make them ideal leaders and contributors to the development of the international standards the IEC oversees. The employees honored this year were:

  • Michel Brossoit, Technical Advisor, Electromedical
    Brossoit was recognized for his expertise and leadership in the area of electrical equipment in medical practice. He acts as an international convenor for a number of IEC subcommittees and working groups and has been a longtime contributor to the standardization of medical robotics and electrical equipment using robotic technology.
  • Vegard Andersen, Technical Advisor, Lab Equipment & Power Supplies
    Andersen was recognized for his valuable contributions as the convenor of MT (Maintenance Team) 14 which enabled IEC 61010-2-091 (the standard for safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use) to be published. He also contributes his time and expertise on several other IEC working groups and MTs.
  • David Brière, Technical Manager, Electrical
    Brière was recognized for his leadership as convenor of MT 4 (temperature limits and resistance to heat and fire) and the team’s work on determining requirements for touchable hot surfaces. He is also a valued expert in solving inquiries on the IEC 60335 series of standards.
