Obtain Meaningful Data to Help Improve Your Product Design

Mechanical testing is an important consideration for manufacturers and retailers to determine the product’s reliability and durability. Most mechanical properties are determined not only by the material properties but also by the product design. Therefore, it is important to note that mechanical testing is typically conducted on finished components or products. By subjecting products to mechanical tests, manufacturers can validate design specifications or identify areas of improvement to bring their products in alignment with applicable standards.

Mechanical Testing Services

Tensile & Compression: Tensile and compression testing are essential to evaluate the mechanical properties of products and their base materials. While tensile testing measures the mechanical behavior of a product when subjected to a stretching or pulling force, compression testing assesses the mechanical behavior of a material when subjected to a compressive or squeezing force. Both forms of testing involve subjecting samples to forces to determine their strength, elongation properties, failure characteristics, and other aspects of product quality. We can test loads up to approximately 4,500 kilograms (approximately 10,000 pounds).

Torque Testing: Our teams also specialize in torque testing, including motor characteristics and mechanical products. We utilize unique fixtures to transmit torsional forces to products, and our custom-built servo motor cycling machine provides cyclic capabilities and multiple channels for capacity.

Abrasion: This type of testing is used to evaluate the resistance of materials to abrasion or wear. During the test, a sample material is subjected to abrasive forces, such as rubbing, scraping, or friction, under controlled conditions. The purpose is to assess the material’s ability to withstand surface damage or deterioration when exposed to abrasive conditions, such as those encountered during regular use or in industrial applications.

Impact: Impact testing assesses a product’s ability to withstand denting, breakage, or other types of damage when subjected to falling objects, objects swung in a pendulum, or other sliding impact forces. In addition to prescribed testing from standards, our experts can conduct retail-based and real-world scenarios to determine a product’s durability.

Cycling / Life Cycling: Cycling, also known as life cycling testing or fatigue testing, is a type of mechanical test used to assess the durability and reliability of materials, components, or products over repeated or cyclic loading conditions. The purpose of cycling testing is to simulate the effects of repetitive stresses or strains that a material or product may experience during its intended use or operational life. Our experts can conduct complex custom cycle testing on diverse items, such as push buttons and shovels, pressure washers, and door closures.

Material Properties Testing: Materials, components, and products must meet requirements and expectations, and testing material properties provides insight and data into how they behave. Testing ranges from adhesion strength, paint adhesion, hardness of metals to soft-grip items, and stain resistance.
