NORTHBROOK, Ill/TORONTO, Ont. December 23, 2021 – Global standards development organizations (SDOs) CSA Group and Underwriters Laboratories are pleased to announce the signing of a collaborative memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The memorandum expresses the intention of CSA Group and Underwriters Laboratories to collaborate in undertaking their respective accredited standards development activities where doing so strengthens public safety, health, or the environment, supports economic efficiency, and promotes clarity and consistency for users of standards and the general public.

Under the terms of the MOU, both organizations agree to promote reciprocal communication, facilitate stakeholder participation in education and awareness raising, and identify and undertake joint initiatives and opportunities to collaborate in areas where both organizations see the social value in doing so.

Underwriters Laboratories is dedicated to the UL mission of working for a safer world. The organization pursues this mission in partnership with many other stakeholders, technical experts and SDOs to develop safety science research and standards through the advancement of programs that drive safety, security and sustainability.

For more than a century, CSA Group has relentlessly led the drive for a better, safer, more sustainable world. The memorandum was signed by both organizations during a virtual ceremony.
