On a typical day, people with disabilities may have fewer options to choose from when accessing transportation services, communicating with others, or interacting with aspects of the built environment. CSA Group standards and research help ensure that everyone can participate in their communities and live to their full potential. CSA Group and our members, volunteer experts in various areas related to accessibility, work closely with Accessibility Standards Canada and other organizations representing persons with disabilities. Together, we develop standards that address accessibility needs for:

• design, construction, and renovation of homes
• design of facilities and exterior environments
• wayfinding in health care facilities
• design of self-service interactive devices, including automated banking machines
• safe transportation of people with disabilities using transit and over-the-road buses

CSA Group also hosts the registry for the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification^TM program focused on helping improve accessibility of the built environment in Canada.
